The painting “Old Boy” by the French artist Stephan Galienni, who painted it after watching the movie “Old Boy,” has been put up for online auction. The artist received inspiration to pain this picture after he was impressed by the movie “Old Boy” shown at a preview in May at the Cannes Film Festival. The painting features the male and female main characters of the movie compared with Jesus and Mother Maria. The artist expressed the shocking atmosphere of the scene where the movie’s secret is being revealed with strong primary colors.

Stephan Galienni, a famous performance artist in France, met with director Park Chan-wook at the Cannes Film Festival to discuss the painting. The artist has put up the painting for auction through a Korean gallery manager who resides in France. The starting price is 7.5 million won.
